Mr. Moses Ekow Ogoe, from
Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West District, has been adjudged the Western
Regional Best Farmer for the year 2014.
The 55-year old, who is a former district best farmer for the Ahanta West District, has
several plantations including rubber, teak, oil palm and coconut. He also has poultry,
livestock and fish farms.
Mr. Ogoe, who is also
the Founder and Executive Director of the Organisation for Livelihood Enhancement
Services (OLIVES), an NGO which is into community development, has been farming
for more than twenty years now.

For his prize, he received
a motor king tricycle, two wheelbarrows, wellington boots, poultry feed,
machetes, agro-chemicals, one knapsack sprayer, a radio set, as well as a
certificate of honour and a citation.
He was given his
prize at the Regional Farmers Day Celebration which was held at Apremdo, ahead
of the National Farmers’ day which is scheduled for tomorrow, December 5, 2014.
What
he said
Speaking at the
function, Mr. Ogoe expressed his profound gratitude to the government for recognizing
the efforts of farmers to national development.
He called for more
concerted efforts towards improving farming, to help consolidate the growth that
the agriculture sector is witnessing currently.
